Serena and Her Sisters is a Bollywood inspired romantic comedy set entirely in Melbourne. It concerns an Indian father, a firm believer in Astrology who, having heard that Astrologers all over India are predicting that the upcoming Diwali festival period is the most auspicious time for romance and marriage in a hundred years, has plans to marry off his twenty-something unmarried daughters to suitable men. His daughters, Serena and her sisters, who have grown up in Australia, have other ideas.
Serena and Her Sisters was awarded a script development grant from the Australian Film Commission in 2005. The script is now production ready and pre-production has commenced.
Oziinda is a anagram of Oz and India, with the 2 “i”s in India brought together. The name signifies the unique position that the company is taking, to produce Australian films with Indian people living in Australia taking dramatic lead roles.
